Our Society

Society means a group of some people who can work together in the way of social awareness. Someone says that the person is the mirror of society because it depended upon him. If the member are good, wise, laborious & kind- hearted then the work of the society will proceed nicely.
On seeing these things we formed a society named,“Smt. Vijayadevi Jamanalal Jain Seva Samiti.” It formed on the year 2003. The main target of the society is to create the awareness in the peasants or local community. It is concerned on the three main necessities of the community as Education, Health and Employment. This society works in the surroundings of Sarnath, a part of the Varanasi.
Varanasi is an important and sacred city in the state of Uttar Pradesh of India. It is situated on the bank of the holy river Ganga. This city is famous for the Sanskrit education as well as Indian Philosophy and it is a true symbol of Indian culture. There are nearly three universities and many colleges for girls and boys. There are many schools and kindergartens also. In spite of these educational centers the status of child education is still disappointing.
Sarnath is a town, 10-Km north of Varanasi City. Sarnath is considered as a Buddhist pilgrimage as Lord Buddha had given his first teachings (Dharma Chakra Pravartana). Many villages surround this place. The condition of literacy, health and women employment is very low in these villages. Our society "Smt. Vijayadevi Jamanalal Jain Seva Samiti “has taken up these issues. This society was founded in 2003. The members are well known persons of the surrounding area.

Educational Aspects

SAVE Programm(Social Awareness in Village Education)

Varanasi is an important and sacred city in the state of Uttar Pradesh of India. It is situated on the bank of the holy river Ganga. This city is famous for the Sanskrit education as well as Indian Philosophy and it is a true symbol of Indian culture. There are nearly three universities and many colleges for girls and boys. There are many schools and kindergartens also. In spite of these educational centers the status of child education is still disappointing.
Sarnath is a town, 10 Km north of Varanasi city.. Sarnath is considered as a Buddhist pilgrimage as Lord Buddha had given his first teachings (Dharma Chakra Pravartana). Many villages surround this place. The condition of literacy, health and women employment is very low in these villages.
Our society
"Smt. Vijayadevi Jamanalal Jain Seva Samiti ”has taken up these issues. This society was founded in 2003. The members are well known persons of the surrounding area. According to our target we have started a program for education. There are so many families in the near-by villages who are passing their life below the poverty line. It is very hard for them to bear the expense of the education of their children. So we have worked on literacy in two groups. One of them is for primary education to the village children and other is the sponsorship for education to a child in different schools.
Primary education program is named as Ankur Bal Mandir. The children of the age group between 5 to 7 years, who do not go to school, come at one place and get education for three hours. One teacher takes responsibility to collect the children and teach them. Local people are given preference for the appointment as a teacher.
Our Vision
We have a clear vision of the project, which is… "To create awareness about education among children as well as in the community so that they can take appropriate decision for their life." Our target To fulfill this vision we have targeted to start ten centers in surrounding villages for providing the basic education to nearly 400 children and give admission to successful 50 students in other good schools per year on sponsorship basis.
Applying area
The applying areas are the villages, which surround Sarnath, in which our centre will work. But in some villages, which have more population than we will open minimum two, centers in that particular village.

Resources:
Program Manager :There is a need of a Program Manager (P.M.) for the project that will have to get the information about the work. He will attend all the meetings and other program with the other members, check the reports and accounts regularly and also visit the centers time to time.
Project Co-ordinator:Project Co-ordinator will have to supervise the centers regularly and organize regular monthly meetings of the teachers and parents. Make monthly reports of the program. He/she will have to check the register and other things of the village teacher. Send information to the P.M.
Field Officer :One field officer will be appointed in this project. His main work will be to visit all the centers regularly and send information to the Project coordinator. He also will have to aware the community about education also.
Teachers:For the centers 10 local teachers will be appointed. Minimum qualification shall be 10th to 12th standard. They will have to teach the children, make the centre neat and clean, maintain the Registers and other records, and attend the meeting or other programs.

A STEP FOR SMILE

In the village, there are so many families that are passing their life under the poverty line and their income is such less that they can not afford the school expense for their children. On knowing the situation of those families we started this sponsorship project, because if child is good in study then it is the duty of society that to help him in getting the education. As a part of Village Literacy program ,we started this project in July 2003, And now we are sponsoring 22 children; All these children belong to the Sarnath town. By this project all the children got new bags, dresses, and stationary in the starting of the school session. Their exams held in April-May.
Note: if you want to sponsor a child than please contact to

FOOD  DONATION PROJECT

Food Donation to Tibetan monks of the Padma Sambhava Temple has started on 16th April 2003. These monks belong to Nyingmapa sect of Tibetan Culture. There are about 25 monks from the age of 12 years to 25 years in this temple. They live here and take education. Usually they eat rice and noodle everyday. Some Western people have given money to us for providing food to them, because our food is good for health. In due course I was invited by my Godmother Siglind to Germany. There, one correspondent of Mine Post had taken interview with Siglind and in that time Siglind introduced me and about my project of monks’ food donation. This news has published and she has got some money. She gave me some money and then I have started to provide food once in a month.
They became very happy regarding this system and they like it very much. They prefer to come at dinnertime. First they started with prayer and after completion of eating they pray again. We have provided food on dates : 16/4/03, 30/08/03, 20/09/03, 15/11/03, 18/12/03, 02/02/04, 17/03/04 and 24/04/04. On 17th March, the Chief abbot came from America with his brother and an American disciple and secretary Lorraine. They have visited for food and they have appreciated very much. They want this work should go on.
